This refined and elegant 5-star hotel located in the heart of London was born from the building renovation and restyling project of a historic building located in the City’s eponymous district, at the intersection of Moorgate and London Wall
The interiors span four floors and are housed in the corner building, with a neoclassical facade, and in the building adjacent to it on the London Wall side, with an exposed brick facade. In full harmony with the style of the exterior, the interior design also reflects this duality.
For this project, Paolo Castelli S.p.A. took care of the interior space design, creating the custom furniture and upholstery for both the rooms and public areas. It also provided a turnkey service including construction drawings, on-site survey, custom fabrication, and installation followed by the issuance of an owner’s manual.
The reception area features extremely cleanly designed wall coverings, which at the same time introduces a retro tinge. The dark oak plank paneling, topped with a brass profile, is finely matched with natural stone flooring, with a custom-made trapezoidal box layout defined by alternating serena stone and bateig azul. The stone paving continues uninterrupted along the upper ramps and landings, where the balcony staircase overlooks the reception area below, lit by a large zenithal skylight .
Plank paneling also lines the modern rooms on London Wall, matching a dark oak parquet floor laid in a running pattern. The rooms on Moorgate, on the other hand, retain original neoclassical decorations such as molded cornices and baseboards, combined with oak parquet flooring laid in a herringbone pattern.
The rooms, designed like real apartments, are equipped with niche cabinets and fully equipped linear kitchens for maximum comfort. Made of oak, the furniture is custom designed by adapting to the architect’s design and the measurements taken on site.
In the services, full-height floor and wall tiles are Calacatta Oro-effect thin ceramics, with custom box layout.
Renovation of the existing property with extension of the upper floors and fitting out of 25 complete hotel apartments, including parquet floors, bathrooms, kitchens, metal partitions, wood paneling, common areas, and space fora new elevator.
