Sir Joan Hotel Ibiza

The internationally prominent architectural design is by Spanish architects Ribas & Ribas, while the interior design is by Israeli architects Baranowitz & Kronenberg.

Tel-Aviv-based BK Architects envisioned the Sir Joan as a contemporary, designer hotel that reflects the island’s seafaring culture and echoes the yacht-living concept.
The hotel houses on the ground floor the different spaces that make up the Front of House: the reception area, the lounge area, and the two restaurants, Izakaya and The Butcher, which overlook the outdoor area, where the swimming pool with different lounging areas and the dining area are located.
the first to the third floor are distributed the 36 rooms that differ from each other in configuration and size, while on the fourth floor there are two suites that enjoy a spectacular view of the sea and the old town.

In this context, Paolo Castelli S.p.A. took care of the interior design of the spaces, creating the custom-made furniture and wall coverings, both for the rooms and the public areas on the ground floor. The company also took care of the coordination of building and plant works related to its own.

The project is extremely varied in its use of materials: a combination of wood and metal is flanked by the use of marble in the services.
The hotel’s entrance is strongly characterized by the unexpected juxtaposition of canaletto walnut parquet flooring and a metal slatted ceiling with a mirror finish, while the steel bar counter with undulating shapes and the hammered sheet metal paneling emphasize the marine metaphor.

Going up to the floors, the walls of the corridors leading to the rooms pick up the turquoise color of the Balearic sea and reflect its ripples thanks to the play of light on the hammered sheet metal ceiling panels. In the rooms, the Canaletto walnut parquet flooring and hammered sheet metal paneling that had already welcomed the guest on the ground floor are reintroduced. The project culminates with the two suites on the fourth floor, designed as a true homage to staying in a yacht.
