Fondaco dei Tedeschi, Venice

“Paolo Castelli S.p.A. completed a new significant project in the heart of Venice, the supply of custom made furniture for Beauty & Fragrance area in the new luxury mall hosted inside the historical building “Fondaco dei Tedeschi”. The tenement overlooking the Grand Canal was designated to trade buying and selling, starting from October 2016 became the first luxury store managed by DFS Group in Europe

The Bolognese company handled the custom-made furniture in the area dedicated to perfumery – about 600sqm – designed according to the project of the English architect Jamie Fobert. Design Studio F&M Engineering followed the architectural planning and the project management, while the general architectural project belongs to Rem Koolhaas.
At the ground floor of the building – once lively medieval courtyard – are located the luxury boutiques overlooking the Grand Canal, while at upper floors there are the different commodities for a total area of 7 thousand sqm: fashion & accessories, watchmaker’s shops, jeweller, wine houses, eatery, beauty and perfumery.

The last one, situated at third floor, has been entrusted to Paolo Castelli S.p.A., which thanks to its expertise in Contract-Retail sector, realised and placed in just a few months all the custom-made furniture – Display frames, totems, Pos, wall and freestanding showcases – for a total of 96 items.
The main challenge, in addition to the particular logistic task required by every project in Venetian lagoon, was finding and combining particular materials like artistic glass, “Fior di Pesco” marble, inox steel with galvanic finish and lacquered MDF.

Among the most difficult elements, we can include the totem brand made of artistic glass and marble base secured to the ceiling, the freestanding showcases containing perfumery, all different from each other by shape and dimension and made of different materials and by different artisans.

The Beauty & Fragrance area is characterised by light tones enhanced by golden accents of metal structures in champagne colour. It adds value to the brands and their products in a delicate and luxury atmosphere, able to have a dialogue both with the inside and the city environment.
